Bec Peniston-Bird



Bec Peniston-Bird is an award winning filmmaker and writer. Her short films have screened at some of the world’s most prestigious festivals, including Berlin, London and Palm Springs.

She has created original content for Chunky Move Dance Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, National Gallery of Victoria, Lonely Planet TV and MTV, as well as directing TVCs for a wide range of commercial clients.

With a background in visual arts and music, Bec’s documentaries include KEITH HARING UNCOVERED for ABC Television and NICK CAVE: ABUSING THE MUSE which premiered at Melbourne International Film Festival.

She is currently developing her first feature project, PETROVA, a Cold War thriller set in 1950’s Australia. Her screenplay won the 2017 INSITE AWARD for best unproduced screenplay, presented by the Australian Writers Guild and Adelaide Film Festival.
